The Bachchans selected the hospital after Aishwarya’s sister-in-law Shrima gave birth to a baby boy there last year.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been admitted at the posh Seven Hills Hospital, instead of more reputable names like Breach Candy or JJ hospital.

Ra One has been a huge part of our lives over the last few months, the build-up to Shahrukh Khan’s most ambitious movie ever has been huge. All of it finally comes to an end today with it’s theatrical release. With the way it was marketed, the expectations from Ra One was unbelievably high. Quite frankly, that’s not always such a good thing. With sky-high expectations, the risk of disappointing the audience is quite high too.

Unfortunately, Ra One disappoints. We genuinely wanted to like the film, but apart from the 30 odd minutes in the second half, there is nothing that touches you and absolutely nothing that creates the kind of adrenaline-rush that good superhero films should.

What works for Ra One

The best thing about Ra One is Kareena Kapoor. The actress looks stunning, oozing sensuality in two fantastic songs – Criminal and Chammak Challo. When it comes to on-screen histrionics, not many actresses in the industry come close to Kareena and she proves that yet again in Ra One. It has to be one of her most likable performances since Jab We Met.

Tremendous amount of work has gone into making Ra One the most technologically advanced film in India and it’s evident in every scene. Both the visual and sound effects are outstanding. Not close to Hollywood standards, but for the budget that the film has been made on, it’s brilliant!

Why Ra One disappoints

In short, Ra One lacks soul. There are three important tracks in the movie; One, the love story between Kareena and G.One. Two, the relationship between Shekhar (later G.One) and his son. And finally, the good vs bad rivalry between G.One and R.One. None of them work, you simply do not feel for any of the characters. (*Spoiler alert – Do not read if you haven’t watched the film* There were people in the theater laughing when Shekhar Subramanium dies, which is just one example of the movie not connecting with the audience)

The first half is mediocre, the second half starts off well but scenes leading to the climax are bad. Ra One also reminds you of the Hollywood classic, Terminator 2.

The special appearances by Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra and Rajnikanth add to the star value, but both sequences fail to make any impact.

Performances

Shahrukh Khan is good as G.One, but as Shekhar Subramanium he tends to overact. Kareena was brilliant. Arjun Rampal was good, but has a shorter than expected role. Armaan Verma who plays SRK’s son, does a decent job. All the other actors including Shahana Goswami, Satish Shah and Dalip Tahil are wasted.

To sum things up

Considering the years of hard work and money that has gone into the making, it hurts to say this – Ra One had immense potential to be a very good film, but it isn’t. Not even close. The biggest flaw is the script and the direction.

Sayali Bhagat filed a complaint against her co-star Shiney Ahuja to sexually abuse her during the filming and also said that Shiney even moved toward her. Claiming that while filming the upcoming movie, ‘Ghost’, Shiney misbehaved with her several times.

“In an intimate scene, he (Shiney) led me to the makeup room and made me keep hands and look into his eyes and feel the” heat. “Decided to ignore,” Sayali Bhagat said in an interview.

Reportedly filed suit against Shiney Sayali in Malad police station in Mumbai. In his complaint, said Anupam Shiney’s wife has been continuously messaging not to file a case or go to the press.

Missing from Bollywood action for nearly 10 years, filmmaker Shashilal Nair, who last made the rather dubious ‘Ek Chotisi Love Story’ in 2002 before he left the country, is taken aback by recent media reports that one of his best-known films, ‘Angaar’, is being bought for remake rights. Settled in London for nearly a decade, Nair was tracked down from his self-imposed hiding to state that he has no plans of selling ‘Angaar’ or any of his films for a remake.

“I happen to be the film`s co-producer and I`ve no knowledge of any such plans of transaction. A software company Endemol was keen to remake `Angaar` and was chasing my office in Mumbai. But I am not too kicked by the idea of handing over the remake rights to anyone who asks for it,” Nair said.

Nair, who is currently studying five-dimensional filmmaking in London, says he is in no mood to remake any of his films. “For some years now I`ve been busy researching and studying five-dimensional filmmaking. I`ll be back in Mumbai to make another film,” he said.

Shashilal Nair was at one time best friends with Jackie Shroff, with whom he made his best films (‘Falak’, ‘Angaar’, ‘Grahan’, ‘One 2 Ka 4’). The last film that Nair attempted to make in Mumbai was a new-age adaptation of Nabokov`s ‘Lolita’, which suffered when Ram Gopal Varma made ‘Nishabd’, based on the same subject of a much older man falling in love with a girl old enough to be his daughter.

Jackie apparently was unhappy and uncomfortable with the steamy scenes that he was forced to do for Nair`s ‘Lolita’. This strained their friendship. Nair was also very close to Manisha Koirala. They fell out over her steamy scenes in ‘Ek Chotisi Love Story’. Friendless in Bollywood, Nair soon fled the country.

He lives in London with his family.

“But I`ll be back soon. I am in and out of Mumbai anyway. As for `Angaar`, please leave it alone,” he said.

Shah Rukh Khan Farooque Khan or FRK comes from a family obsessed with Shah Rukh Khan. The family is so gaga over the superstar that Farooque’s sister was even named Shah Rukh Khan. Farooque is the name given to the young girl by her father, but her friends lovingly call her FRK. Born and brought up in Panchgani, Farooque will feature in UTV Stars’ “Live My Life”.

She even left her job to meet the actor and live his life for a day for the TV show. But guess what – King Khan offered her a job in his own company!

“Farooque left her job to come and shoot for the show and when she met SRK, she said that she was fired. So he made a proposal to her boss asking him to hire her back, or else he will get her a job in his own company,” said a source from the sets.

The episode featuring Farooque will be aired Saturday.

When director Onir decided to make his I Am story into a film, the first person that came to his mind to play the role of a child abuse victim was Karisma Kapoor.

The filmmaker in one of his interviews had revealed that he was in talks with Karisma for the role for a film titled You And I, with which also supposed to mark Karisma’s Bollywood comeback. Onir said that after the Kapoor beauty changed her mind about doing the film, he approached Sanjay Suri for the same role.

Obviously, a few changes had to be made to change the story from a female-oriented to a male oriented one. However, our sources tell us that Karisma is now regretting having lost the opportunity.

A source revealed, “Karisma was interested in the script when Onir approached her but for some personal reasons she couldn’t do the film. However, she recently saw I Am and she loved the way the film has come out. She regretted not being a part of it. It certainly would have been a great comeback vehicle for her.”

For sure, a role like that in I Am would have given Karisma great opportunity to perform and considering her earlier performances, we are sure the gorgeous girl would have wowed her fans.
